The Villain
Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom — Robert Downey Jr. The single biggest casting reveal in recent MCU history. Downey Jr., whose Tony Stark died in Avengers: Endgame, returns to the franchise as Marvel’s most formidable villain, a decision loaded with unresolved multiverse implications that Marvel has deliberately declined to fully explain ahead of release.
The Fantastic Four
Fresh off their own solo introduction in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s First Family enters the wider MCU fold in Doomsday. A significant contingent of longtime MCU heroes returns. Thor — Chris Hemsworth, Sam Wilson / Captain America — Anthony Mackie, and Scott Lang / Ant-Man — Paul Rudd are all confirmed, alongside Loki — Tom Hiddleston, whose character’s own multiversal journey across four seasons of his solo series positions him as a natural bridge into Doomsday’s multiverse-spanning plot. Namor — Tenoch Huerta Mejía and Namora — Mabel Cadena, both introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, are confirmed to appear, alongside Letitia Wright, reprising her role as Shuri/Black Panther. Who’s Confirmed Absent
Not every major MCU name is joining the fight. Mark Ruffalo has confirmed Bruce Banner/Hulk does not appear in Doomsday at all, with Marvel instead saving his reappearance for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Whether that absence is addressed within Doomsday’s own story, or simply left unexplained amid its already enormous ensemble, remains one of the more talked-about open questions heading into December.

With 27 cast members confirmed and counting as of Marvel’s SDCC 2026 panel, Avengers: Doomsday’s ensemble already ranks among the largest in blockbuster history, and further reveals remain plausible right up to release.
